Charity Coffee Morning Raises Hundreds of Pounds

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

A small charity in Gateshead has hosted several Macmillan Coffee Mornings, raising over £750 to help make a difference for people living with cancer.

Teams and Bensham Community Care hosted two coffee mornings at their centre on Bolam Street, Gateshead, where older people in the community come together for lunch and activities.

Staff, volunteers and local residents donated cakes to sell at the centre, along with raffle prizes to help raise funding.

The total amount raised across the two coffee mornings from cake sales, raffle tickets and donations was an amazing £766.68, which far exceeded what the small charity was expecting.

Bernie Gill, Trustee of the charity, said: "Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity close to many of our hearts. Our coffee mornings were a wonderful way to show our thanks and to support the important work they do. As a small charity in the community, we're thrilled with how much we were able to raise."
