A Trip Down Memory Lane with Beamish Museum

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

We recently found out that Beamish Museum has loans boxes, containing objects, photographs and ideas for activities, which can be borrowed free of charge after paying a small deposit.

After making some enquiries, Teams and Bensham Community Care have had three different loan boxes so far, full to the brim of items for our lunch club and men's group attendees, staff and volunteers to look at.

Contents have been really interesting and the boxes have included newspapers, greetings cards, clothing, bags, shoes, books, toys, post cards, letters and household items. We can't wait to see what is in the next one!

Teams and Bensham Community Care is a registered charity supporting older people in Gateshead to alleviate and prevent the ill-effects of isolation and vulnerability. For almost three decades, we have provided lunch clubs, men’s groups, art and activities every weekday in our welcoming and accessible centre for up to 25 people each day. Our on-site cooks create traditional, freshly cooked meals and desserts as well as freshly baked goods for our beneficiaries to take home. On the last Sunday of every month, our walking group meets and travels together for walks that are up to 7 miles long, at a variety of picturesque locations in the North of England.
